Water is an essential item that we all need.

Without enough water, we can become very sick, and could even die.

Thankfully for us, drinking water, or at least consuming it in one form or another, is a big part of our lives.

But what some people forget is that it’s easier to lose fluids than it is to gain them.

Our bodies use water to regulate everything and we need more depending on the amount of physical exercise, external heat, and sickness.

That’s the main reason why staying hydrated and healthy is important. If we don’t get enough water we’re at risk of becoming dehydrated, which can come in many different shapes and sizes. 

You can prevent dehydration by drinking plenty of fluids every day.

But if you come across a dehydrated person that has lost consciousness, then you should contact your healthcare provider, as it could lead to complications and even more issues later on.

According to PubMed, men should drink at least 3.7 liters of water a day, and the average women should drink 2.7 liters.

But these numbers will fluctuate depending on the level of daily exercise and heat stress. 

Here are a few signs that you need to drink more water.

1) Muscle Cramps

If your body doesn’t get enough fluids when you’re exercising, then the chances of suffering from muscle cramps increase.

While the most common muscles to experience cramping are in the leg, your the feet, arms, hands, and abdomen are also likely to cramp as well.

2) Dizziness

Becoming mildly dehydrated can affect your cognitive behavior, making you more likely to become dizzy. Mild dehydration can also cause further problems with concentration and in some cases short-term memory loss.

3) An Increase In Heart Rate

When you have less water in your body, your blood volume will decrease as a result.

This naturally increases your heart rate. But a dehydrated person may also experience low blood pressure when standing up after laying down.

4) Less Elastic Skin

A lack of water in the body will cause the skin to start to become tight. This can cause cracks to appear, and can even make your skin bleed!
