If you’ve gotten married and planned a wedding, you know the guestlist is super important.
It’s just one step down on the stress-o-meter from the wedding breakfast table plan.
So when you’re writing the list of people you’re going to invite to your wedding, you’ve got to give in some serious thought. Do you invite those friends from college you haven’t actually seen or spoken to for the past six years? And do you invite the former President of the United States of America?
Bride-to-be Brooke’s hilariously extra mom dropped Barack and Michelle Obama an invitation, and this RSVP came back to Brooke in the mail!
“Congratulations on your wedding. We hope that your marriage is blessed with love, laughter, and happiness and that your bond grows stronger with each passing year. This occasion marks the beginning of a lifelong partnership, and as you embark on this journey, know you have our very best for the many joys and adventures that lie ahead.”
Brooke tweeted her surprise and delight at the unexpected reply, along with a photo of the fancy reply from the Obama’s office. So far, more than 40,000 people have retweeted Brooke’s tweet, and almost 200,000 have liked it.
Look at that stationary! If that’s the sort of perk you get from being President and First Lady of the USA then maybe I’ll run for office, just for the headed letter paper!
Brooke’s tweet has prompted messages from people who’ve also received letters from the Obamas. Turns out she’s not the only person they’ve written back to, which is kinda sweet!
One person who got in touch with Brooke through Twitter received a congratulatory letter back after sending the Obamas a birth announcement of her daughter.
A handful of others sent Barack Obama their graduation announcement while he was still in office as President and received letters back as well. I guess it’s a sign of the times that you can actually get in touch with people in office online really easily these days, and they actually reply!
The messages do vary depending on the occasion, so they’re not just the same copy-and-pasted message. Can you imagine? “Congratulations on the birth of your son/daughter, and/or your wedding. (Please delete as appropriate)”.
It really goes to show the caring side of the people in charge.
This actually isn’t even the first time that the Obamas have responded to a wedding invitation. One couple got a letter from Barack and Michelle back in 2014, while another received theirs in May of 2016. These folks have got wedding invitations coming out of their ears! They must never be stuck for something to do on the weekends!
I guess they only attend those where the menu sounds tasty and there’s a free bar.
Just out of curiosity, if they has got to making the seating plan with the Obamas on it, I wonder if they would have commanded a good spot? Or maybe they would be stuck next to Great Aunt Gloria, who’s 400 years old and has voted Republican her whole dang life, dagnabbit.
What do you think about Barack and Michelle’s reply? Cute, or a waste of time and money? Let us know with a COMMENT and don’t forget to LIKE and SHARE with your friends!
