Everyone has their own idea of beauty, and what makes someone beautiful.
Some thing red heads are beautiful, others think skinny women are beautiful, and some people think men with huge bushy beards are beautiful.
To each their own!
To see the difference in beauty expectations, a UK company, Superdrug Online Doctors, decided to ask markating experts from around the world to edit a photo of the ‘average’ woman.
The project is called “Perceptions Of Perfection“ and it features 18 photoshopped images of the same woman.
The photo was edited to reflect the beauty standards of their countries.
The Superdrug store said in a press release:
“Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men.
“The goal of this project is to better understand potentially unrealistic standards of beauty and to see how such pressures vary around the world.”
Here’s the surprising results!
Here is the original picture of the model.
Let’s see how the rest of the wold decided to changer her!
Here, we see that the figure has been reduced to make her seem more petite.
Already, there is a big difference between the edited photos and the original.
Just like Argentina, South Africa have made the body smaller, and her skin has been made lighter.
In Venezuela it’s all about hair, so that was the biggest change you’ll see in this photo.
It’s nice to see that the changes aren’t too dramatic…Yet!
She’s been slimmed down, but only slightly, and her skin has been darkened slightly to give her a more Mediterranean look.
This is where things started to drastically change.
America gave her a thigh gap, thinned her out in some places, but made sure she kept her curves in others places. Realistically, this would be a hard figure to maintain!
In China they decided to put together a different type of person altogether! They decided to give the model doll-like features and an impossibly small body.
Just like Venezuela, the hair is key. So Colombia decided to reddened the model’s hair and make it longer.
In the Philippines, they like a woman with smaller hips. But other than that, the proportions are roughly the same.
Red hair was added, and the model is now wearing a bikini with boots… Odd choice.
In Peru her body was thinned out a little on top, but the leg proportions stayed pretty close to the original.
In this edit they moved her crotch around, which is a weird change, and they made her a little smaller and slightly darker in skin tone.
Big hair, darker skin, skinny legs and wide hips is the look to go for in Egypt.
It’s hard to tell what the differences are here in this photo, but there’s definitely a thigh gap going on.
Just like China, it seems that they just went for a completely different body type here!
They must love the color red in the Ukraine! She’s been made quite a bit smaller in this photo.
In Mexico the model was made darker in hair and skin tone, and she was also shrunk down!
The editor here changed the legs and proportions quite a bit in this photo edit!
She’s been shrunk once again, but the big change was makeup. Serbia edited the makeup the model was wearing in the original photo.
