The Real Life Partners Of The Office US

The Real Life Partners Of The Office US

The Office US  premiered on NBC in 2005- that’s a whole 13 years ago! Woah! Where does the time go?

It was based on the successful UK version created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant and similarly, it depicted the day-to-day life of the employees at the paper company ‘Dunder Mifflin’. The show is seen through the eyes and camera of a documentary film crew and there’s a rollercoaster of hilarious, awkward and emotional moments throughout the series.

In the US version, many of the cast members were also writers on the show, and by the end of the series, there was a whole crew of writer-director-producer-actors sitting in those swivel chairs.

What else was going on in those chairs I hear you ask? A lot of emailing, online shopping, and solitaire apparently. All of the computers were hooked up to the web and since so many scenes required the characters to be sitting in the background looking as if they were working, they kept themselves busy. In addition to playing games and doing their taxes, many of the cast members were writing behind-the-scenes or character blogs, all while the show was filming. Talk about multi-tasking!

It’s one of our favorite shows of all time so we feel that it’s time to catch up on what the cast is up to now, and most importantly, how their love life is going…

Steve Carell And Nancy Carell

Steve Carell perfectly played the character of Michael Gary Scott in The Office and many believe that his casting is what made the show so successful in the US.

Michael Scott finally got everything he ever wanted by the end of the series. He married his true love Holly (Amy Ryan), they had kids, and he had so many pictures of them that he had to buy a second phone to hold them all!

Remember when he made Dwight’s dreams come true and turned up just in time to be best man at his wedding? *cries*

Steve Carell has been married to his wife Nancy for over 20 years!

They have two children together- Elisabeth and John Carell!

Jenny Fischer and Lee Kirk

Jenny Fischer plays the lovable Pam Halpert in the show- a receptionist who initially appears shy and hesitant at times.

Pam is unenthusiastic about her job, and instead shows a real passion and talent for art. She states in a talking head interview that, “I don’t think it’s many little girls’ dream to be a receptionist” and comments that she would be unfazed if she were let go.

She finally marries Jim Halpert and has two children — a girl named Cecelia “Cece” Marie Halpert and a boy named Phillip Halpert.

Fischer took her first acting class at age 6, alongside Gilmore Girls regular Sean Gunn. She later married and eventually divorced his brother, James!

However, she’s now happily married with Lee Kirk- a film director from Texas. They have two children together.

Rainn Wilson and Holiday Reinhorn

Rainn Wilson played Dwight Schrute in the show and is a definite favorite amongst fans! He is the “Assistant to the Regional Manager” in selling paper, despite lacking social skills and common sense.

Wilson describes his character Dwight as “someone who does not hate the system, but has a deep and abiding love for it”.

Wilson is the only cast member to appear in every single episode of The Office. He originally auditioned for Michael Scott, but was given the role of Dwight, beating Seth Rogen for the part!

He is happily married to his beautiful wife Holiday Reinhorn, who he wed in 1995!

They have a son together who’s now 14 years old!

Oscar Nunez and Ursula Whittaker

Oscar Nunez plays the part of Oscar Martinez in the show. He is an Accountant at Dunder Mifflin/Sabre: Scranton Branch.

Oscar is openly gay after being unwillingly outed by Michael Scott in the episode Gay Witch Hunt.

He finally left accounting behind at the end of The Office to run for Pennsylvania State Senate.

One of Nunez’s first TV appearances was on Match Game in 1998. (He didn’t win.) He was in the 24 pilot, appeared as a ranch hand on Malcolm in the Middle, and had had some small roles on other shows like Reno 911 and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

He married in 2011, to Californian actress Ursula Whittaker and they have one child together. Lovely!

B.J Novak and Mindy Kaling

B.J Novak played Ryan Howard in the show, whilst Mindy Kaling played Kelly Kapoor.

They dated in the show and a few years back in real life.

However, in March 2018- they turned up to a Vanity Fair red carpet event together arm-in-arm and sent The Office fans CRAZY! Fans were quick to grasp at a romantic connection, in part because the two used to date both on The Office and IRL and looked super cozy at the event.

“I will freely admit: My relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell,” Kaling explained recently to InStyle. “He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend.”

“I guess you could describe our relationship as a ‘romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,’ but I don’t think Facebook would accept this as a new status,”.

PLEASE, just get married and have kids together already!

Paul Lieberstein and Janine Poreba

Paul Lieberstein plays Toby Flenderson in the show- however, Lieberstein was never actually supposed to be a cast member.

He was a writer, who had one line in the pilot, but when then NBC Entertainment president saw him in the dailies, he said he wanted to see more of him. By season 5, Lieberstein was the showrunner, and tended to prefer his behind-the-scenes role to his on-camera one.

Prior to The Office, he’d been a writer on Clarissa Explains It All and was a producer on King of the Hill, for which he won his first Emmy.

Since then, he became a producer for the third season of The Newsroom, where he also found himself on camera for a couple of episodes. He’s also directed several episodes of The Mindy Project.

He tied the knot with his wife Janine Poreba back in 2008 and they’re still happily married!

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt

John Krasinski plays Jim Halpert in the show and became quite the heart-throb for fans! He was a salesman at what was formerly Dunder Mifflin-Sabre until he was fired (he quit, but he was offered severance pay by Dwight) and later pursued his company Athlead.

Before his character Jim leaves for Austin to start a new life with his kids and wife Pam, he sums up his time in the Office saying “Even if I didn’t love every minute of it, everything I have I owe to this job. This stupid, wonderful, boring amazing job.”.

The charismatic Kraskinski honed his acting chops at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon Avon, so of course, he was still working as a waiter to pay the bills right up until he got his role on The Office. He’d also been a script intern on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

His career has skyrocketed since then. He’s co-starred with George Clooney, co-written with Matt Damon, and wrote and directed Brief Interviews with Hideous Men while the show was still in production, based on the short story by David Foster Wallace.

He married actress Emily Blunt in 2010 and they have two kids together. What a gorgeous, talented couple!

Angela Kinsey and Joshua Snyder

Angela Kinsey plays Angela Martin in The Office and is head of Accounting department at Dunder Mifflin Scranton. She can often be cold and stern with others and is also known for loving cats and owns several of them.

In addition to heading the accounting department, Angela is also the office safety officer and former head of the Party Planning Committee. She is a constant source of complaints to Human Resources, although she “redacts” those lodged against Dwight Schrute on the onset of their secret romance.

Kinsey originally auditioned for the role of Pam Beesly, but was considered “too feisty,” so they called her back to try out for Angela.

Before that, she’d played a murderer on Monk, been an intern for Max Weinberg at Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

She married actor Joshua Snyder in 2016 and also has one child from her previous marriage with Warren Lieberstein (a writer on the show and Paul Lieberstein’s brother!)

Ellie Kemper and Michael Koman

Ellie Kemper plays Erin Hannon in the show and she is the Receptionist at Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch.

Erin brings cheer and enthusiasm to her job as a receptionist, unlike Pam who at the time the series started had already become jaded and bored.

Erin is perhaps the only employee who enjoys Michael Scott’s company, cheerfully indulging his every whim and quirk.

Kemper started off her career in theater, writing sketch comedy shows, and appearing in commercials. She auditioned for Saturday Night Live in 2008 but didn’t make the cut, then tried out for a role on Parks and Recreation. While she didn’t get that either, it did lead to an audition for The Office, where a four-episode guest role turned into a job as a full time cast member!

Ellie is happily married to her husband Michael Koman. They tied the knot in 2012 and have a son together.

Kate Flannery and Chris Haston

Kate Flannery plays Meredith Palmer in the show and has a not-so-subtle alcohol problem.

In one episode she passes out with her head on her desk. In another, after a party in the office, she’s so drunk she removes her top in front of her boss (Michael) in his office after everyone else has left.

In the early stage of her performing career, Flannery unsurprisingly did a lot of comedic theater. She was one of the founding cast members of The Real Live Brady Bunch alongside Andy Richter and Jane Lynch, in a show co-created by Transparent creator Jill Soloway.

Flannery was married to NBC stills photographer Chris Haston from 2006-2016 after meeting on the set of The Office.

They unfortunately split in 2016 following rumors that Chris Haston had been involved with several other women. Poor Kate!

Brian Baumgartner and Celeste Ackelson

Kevin Malone is a fictional character on The Office, played by Brian Baumgartner. His character is based on Keith Bishop from The Office UK and he was an accountant at Dunder Mifflin: Scranton Branch.

Kevin is typically quite subdued with his hangdog face and he is known for making blunt or offensive comments regarding the other employees.

He hints toward unbecoming Internet habits (most likely pornography) and is very concerned about the e-mail surveillance uncovering the contents of his hard drive!

Baumgarner did a lot of theater before he found his way to TV, and the same year The Office premiered, he’d had parts on Jake in Progress, Arrested Development, and Everwood.

Baumgartner got married in 2014 to Celeste Ackelson. Guests at his wedding included former castmates Jenna Fischer, Oscar Nunez, Angela Kinsey, and John Krasinski, along with his wife Emily Blunt. We’d have loved an invite to that wedding!

And finally, Leslie David Baker’s love life remains a mystery!

Leslie David Baker played Stanley Hudson in the show- he was a salesman and long-time worker at Dunder Mifflin.

At the end of the series, Stanley retired and moved to a little house on the edge of the Everglades. He finally divorced the wife he cheated on and sits on his porch all day carving birds.

In terms of his love life- Baker is extremely private. Baker has always been active in sharing the details regarding his acting credits and portrayals. However, he has always kept the details regarding his personal life behind the curtains.

After doing a bit of digging however, we’ve come to assume that he’s married to this lovely lady.

Though Baker has never revealed his wife’s name and neither has mentioned her in any of his interviews, he is often seen making appearances with his better-half in different events.

We hope you’ve enjoyed looking through the real-life partners of the amazing Office cast! Who was your favorites from the show? Let us know in the comments and feel free to share this with friends!
