We all want to look as fabulous as Kim Kardashian and so when she’s kind enough to show us how she applies her make-up then it’s definitely worth a shot to try it, right? Well, when FEMAIL did the exact same thing that Kim does in her demonstration video, the results were much different than expected. Let’s take a look at the step-by-step that FEMAIL went through in order to achieve something that we were all hoping was a little more glamorous than what it really happened. Take a look:
When Dailymail.com Beauty Director, Lindsey Unterberger tried the routine, she gave it her best effort.
She bought the same kit that Kim advertises in her video. It retails for $48.
Now, let’s get started!
Step 1: ‘Concealer’.
Kim doesn’t use concealer, she uses the matte side of the highlighter crayon to brighten any dark areas on her face. Lindsey tries to do the same thing. It just isn’t working.
Step 2: Contouring the nose.
Kim takes the lighter side of the contour crayon on the top of her nose. According to her, “It shortens the nose and makes it look so cute.” Lindsey tries the same but none of her so-called concealing or contouring is helping her to look anything like Kim.
Step 3: Forehead Contour.
Now Kim uses a darker contour on her forehead and Lindsey tries to do the same. However, she looks like she’s getting ready for clown college instead.
Step 4: Face Contour.
Now, it’s time to add some definition to the cheeks and jaw and Kim uses the dark side of the crayon to do this. Poor Lindsey is not doing so well with this one.
Step 5: Blending The Contour.
This is a crucial step in the process. It helps to make everything look natural again. They both use the brush end of the applicator that came with the makeup kit.
Step 6: Blending ‘Concealer’.
Now Kim uses the sponge side of the applicator and dabs her face to blend this in.
Lindsey is working hard to keep up with the reality star.
Unfortunately, it’s still not going so well but it’s looking a bit better!
Step 7: The Lip Color.
Kim applies the darker shade of the contour to her lip and when Lindsey does the same, she looked more like a zombie!
Step 8: Eyeshadow.
Kim uses the same dark contour as an eyeshadow but this color hardly showed up on Lindsey at all!
Step 9: Highlight.
The shimmery end of the highlighter crayon was used on the top of the cheeks, brow bone, bridge of the nose, inner corners of the eyes and Cupid’s bow. Lindsey liked this one the best.
Do these two look like twins, or what? Of course, it takes a special face to look like Kim Kardashian but Lindsey was hoping to have some resemblance after doing all of the steps to perfection. Maybe it was the colors that came in the kit? Each woman has her own skin tone. Regardless, it was worth a shot.
