When shooting and editing a big movie, there is so much to take care of that it can be hard, if not impossible, to make sure that there are no errors in the final cut.
Even the biggest blockbusters make mistakes from time to time – check out this list of Hollywood howlers.
1. The Empire Strikes Back
The Empire Strikes Back is a firm favorite among the Star Wars fanbase, and is considered by movie critics to be one of the best of the whole series. However, there is a pretty glaring error in the movie, near the beginning.
In one of the battle scenes, Luke climbs up underneath an imperial walker and destroys it using a thermal detonator. Even though this is obviously really cool, you can notice the stick that was being used by the crew to push the model of the walker over.
2. Jason Bourne
Matt Damon has enjoyed great success with the Bourne franchise, delighting fans and critics alike with his performances in these top-tier thriller movies.
However, in the latest part of the Bourne franchise, simply titled Jason Bourne, Matt Damon was supposed to be in London, England, but you can quite clearly see a Las Vegas hotel in one of the shots during the final car chase. Still a good movie!
3. Quantum of Solace
In Daniel Craig’s second James Bond movie, you can clearly see one of the extras in the background at the Haitian port. What makes it even funnier is that he is pretending to sweep the floor, but is sweeping nothing but air. I guess that’s why he’s not acting full-time, huh?
4. North by Northwest
In the shooting scene of this classic Hitchcock movie, in the Mount Rushmore cafe, there is a boy in the background who puts his fingers over his ears, because he knows that a gun is about to be fired. Not exactly natural!
5. Gone with the Wind
In the scene where Ashley is brought back wounded from the raid where Scarlett’s husband Mr Kennedy was killed, Melanie grabs a gas lamp to follow the man carrying Ashley to the bedroom. No big deal there, except that you can see an electrical cord hanging down from it. Whoops!
6. Thor Ragnarok
While watching the Thor Ragnarok, you might notice when Thor throws Loki in a group of guards, one of the enemies is flying backwards even though he wasn’t hit. Also, the number of bodies during these scenes constantly changes. Still a fun movie though.
7. Batman Begins
The first in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, Batman Begins set the tone very well for what was to come with The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. However, there is a pretty glaring error in one of the movie’s most memorable scenes. When Wayne Manor is on fire, a burning log falls on Bruce, and lands near his feet. Immediately, the camera cuts to a different angle, and it is instead right by his neck.
8. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
Another Star Wars error to finish off – when the charismatic Lando Calrissian says “Go on, you pirate” his entire outfit is reversed from shot to shot – his shoulder holster strap goes the other way, and his rank insignia changes side too. I bet the costume department got into trouble for that one!
