These Chilling Photos Show The Inside Of Chris Cornell’s Hotel Room After Committing Suicide

Chris Cornell’s death was sudden and very unexpected and it shocked the world.

It’s still uncertain what went on before Chris took his own life, or what even pushed him to do so, but the world mourned the loss of a music legend when the news broke.

When police first arrived at Chris Cornell’s hotel room they found his prescription drugs, all his belongings and the equipment that Chris would go onto use in his suicide.

The Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman was found dead at the MGM Grand in Detroit soon after he played a gig in the city on 18th May. Chris Cornell was just 52 years old.

Chris was a pioneer of the grunge genre and was widely regarded as one of the best voices in the grunge industry. This music legend was blessed with a four-octave vocal range.

His friends and family described his death as ‘sudden and unexpected’.

Detroit Police Department have recently released the photos taken in Chris’s hotel room during their investigation of his suicide.

There were prescription bottles on the side, one of Chris’ guitars was placed on a chair, while his sunglasses were left lying on the bed.

According to the records, obtained under a Freedom of Information Act request by Detroit Free Press, a call from Chris’ wife, Vicky, prompted Chris’s bodyguard (Martin Kirsten) to go to the singer’s room. Room 1136.

When Martain reached the hotel room to check on him he noticed ‘he did not sound like he was OK’.

Martin was unable to get into the locked room, so he ‘kicked open the main door, then did the same with the interior bedroom door’.

Martain said in a ‘police signed statement’:

“I went inside and the bathroom door was partially opened, and I could see his feet.”

Chris Cornell’s family have released a statement questioning the motives behind Chris’s suicide. What pushed him into taking his own life?

The statement reads:

“The family believes that if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions.

Without the results of toxicology tests, we do not know what was going on with Chris – or if any substances contributed to his demise.”

The family said Cornell may have been taking the anti-anxiety prescription drug known as Ativan. A drug he was taking above the recommended dosage.

It continued:

“Some medical literature indicates that Ativan can cause paranoid or suicidal thoughts, slurred speech and impaired judgement.”

Fellow musicians, friends, family and fans all gathered together at Hollywood Forever Cemetery for Chris’ funeral which took place on May 26th.

His grave marker, which is only feet away from the headstone of his hero, Johnny Ramone, reads: ‘Voice of our generation and an artist for all time’.

Chris’s passing was a sad and sudden thing that shook the music world. I’m sure we won’t see a talent like his for a long time.
