When President Barack Obama left the White House to make way for President Trump the people of America either loved or hated the news with little in between. President Trump was a controversial candidate and has made an even more controversial President.
One of the things that have sparked the biggest response from Trump supporters and haters alike are his social media posts. Donald Trump is a huge Twitter fan and often uses the platform to update the people of the USA with goings on in the White House.
President Barack Obama was also a Twitter fan during his own presidential term, and has recently shared his Twitter strategies with the HT Leadership Summit. The speech he gave at the event in India gave handy tips and tricks about how to be on your best behaviour on the internet.
President Obama advised his audience at the summit to “Think before you tweet. Don’t say the first thing that pops into your head. Have a bit of an edit function.” Anyone who’s ever spend some time on social media will know that there’s a lot of people out there who could do with taking that advice!
President Obama went on to say that social media can have a huge impact in this day and age and that we should learn to appreciate its power. He continued, “All these various platforms are extraordinarily powerful tools, and those tools can be used for good and those tools can be used for ill. I think it’s important to be mindful of both the power of these tools but also its limits.”
President Obama continued his informative speech, giving the advice, “Your mother and father knew better. Listen to them. Don’t do things like that. Think before you speak, think before you tweet.” I hear you mister President! And here’s the video of his speech so you can hear him too…
