Artist Imagines What Real-Life Disney Characters Would Look Like… And They Are Truly Amazing!

Shocked Kimmy Schmidt GIF by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

You know when you’re sat at your desk at work, staring out of the window wistfully, quietly slipping into the wonderful world of daydreams, has your mind ever wandered over to the question of “If Disney characters were real-life people, what would they look like?” …of course you have.

Well never fear! Thanks to 28-year-old Finnish artist Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen you longer have to wonder, for she has brought our wildest daydreams into reality! Well… kind of.

#1 Moana From Moana

I personally think Moana is one of the most underrated Disney movies (along with The Emperor’s New Groove, can I get an amen?). It had everything! Tropical lands, a wise Grandma, Dwayne the Rock Johnson and an adorable sidekick. Also, not to mention, Moana is a total bada*s!

Looking at this image it’s hard to believe that Moana is just a fictional character. Vinse has captured her spirit and likeness perfectly in this!

#2 Belle From Beauty And The Beast

I’m not sure if you’ve caught on by now, Belle is my absolute favorite Disney Princess ever. I love her love of books and her thirst for adventure, but also her kind heart and her ability to stick up for herself.

So Vinse unknowingly had a lot of pressure on her shoulders, I mean, if she’d messed up Belle, she would have had me to answer to! But of course, Vinse did not disappoint at all. Look how incredible this image is! I am blown away. A Beauty indeed!

#3 Captain Li Shang From Mulan

Who could forget the ultimate dreamboat from Mulan, Captain Li Shang? Strong, silent, brave… and totally oblivious to the fact that “Ping” was actually a woman. He was the whole package!

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
And what a package he looks in this image! Diiiing Dong. One thing’s for sure, I would definitely be willing to fight for my country if my captain looked like this.

#4 Prince Eric From The Little Mermaid

I must say, I think Prince Eric is probably one of my favorite Princes’ of Dinsey. He was kind of the first Prince who actually did anything noteworthy during a Disney movie… not to mention, he is toooootally cute.

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
And Vinse has definitely managed to capture is cuteness in this image. Yeah… I’d save this guy from a shipwreck too, 100%. He also kind of reminds me of somebody…

RIGHT??? Somebody get Disney on the phone, I have a very important call to make.

#5 Princess Anna From Frozen

Ah Anna, the lovable, playful, naive younger sister of Elsa. I always admired her optimism and her courage… and the cynic in me always shook my head at how easily she “fell in love” with Hans. But hey, we’ve all been there!

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
The realistic image Vinse has created for Anna, as I’m sure you can agree, is absolutely stunning. The clear blue of her eyes and the placement of her hair in perfect, and she has the Princess’ colouring down to a T.

Not to mention… she also has somewhat of a resemblence to one of my favorite actresses of the moment, Jane Levy. I think I’m beginning to see a pattern here folks!

#6 Princess Jasmine From Aladdin

Princess Jasmine is hands down the sassiest Disney Princess around… and I dare you to say otherwise! She never needed no man, especially a prince (How REFRESHING) and she wasn’t afraid to make her feelings heard.

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
Well, Vinse did an amazing job (because of course she did) portraying all this in this realistic image. She certainly looks like a princess you wouldn’t want to mess with her!

#7 Eugene Fitzherbert / Flynn Rider From Tangled

Oh, be still my beating heart! Flynn Rider (aka Eugene Fitzherbert) is most definitely my favorite Disney non-prince (I know I know, he does become one in the end). Especially as the film progresses, when we start to see his wall come down… he’s such a little sweetheart!

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
…and also he’s such a little HUNK. Thank you Vinse for bringing this glorious image into my life, I will honestly treasure it forever. It really captures his personality!

#8 Cruella De Vil From 101 Dalmatians

Although it may be fun to imagine Disney characters as real-life people… I’m not too sure the same can be said for Disney Villians. I mean, let’s be honest, most of them were bloody scary enough as cartoons! And for me personally, there was no villain scary than Cruella De Vil.

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
A woman whose dream is to walk around wearing the skin of 100 puppies? Erm, NO thanks. And Vinse has yet again done an incredible job of truly capturing De Vil’s terrifying nature. Yet… I’m not sleeping for a while.

#9 Kocoum From Pocahontas

Ah Kocoum, the brave, strong, silent warrior of Pocahontas’ tribe… and not to mention, “allocated” future husband. Unfortunately for him, our girl Pocha was just not interested, despite the fact that every other woman in the village was, and instead ran off with a white man… women, huh?

#10 Jane From Tarzan

I always admired Jane – her intellect, her fearlessness, her love of animals and exploring the unknown… well, eventually that is. She also took no crap from any man, and that totally gets my vote! She also had a pretty cool style too.

I am so incredibly obsessed with Jane’s hairstyle in this picture! Vinse has made it look so simple and manageable… yet I know if I tried to recreate the same look it’d take me 7 hours and 11 YouTube tutorials. The green her eyes is simply beautiful too.
#11 Ariel From The Little Mermaid

Ah, a Disney fan favorite; Ariel aka The Little Mermaid, a defiant 16-year-old who throws a fit when her Dad won’t let her run away with a man she has never had a conversation with… Kids these days eh!

I think the most important part for this recreation is Ariels’ signature bright-red locks… and I think it’s safe to say that Vine has absolutely nailed them. I absolutely love that she created this one as a moving image too, so you really get the full effect of Ariel’s underwater life. Beautiful!
#12 Esmeralda From The Hunchback On Notre Dame
Who could forget the number 1 gypsy beauty herself, Esmerelda? The only person to ever show kindness to our boy Quasimodo… and because of that she forever stole our hearts. I still can’t walk around a cathedral without singing ‘God Help The Outcasts’ quietly to myself.

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
Her fiery spirit and kind-hearted nature really show through on this image… the look in her eyes really screams “I’ll help you, but if you mess with me, I will ruin your life”. No wonder that meanie Judge Claude Frollo fell hopelessly love (and completely obsessed) with her.
#13 Ursula’s Alter Ego Vanessa From The Little Mermaid
Ursula the Seawitch really was something else wasn’t she? Not content with harboring Ariel’s voice, she then had to go and turn herself human in order to steal Ariel’s man too. I mean, just take a day off woman! Poor Eric never had a chance.
Although after seeing this picture you can kind of understand why Eric may be tempted to stray away… not to mention that he was totally like, bewitched at the time too. Gosh, the things these poor Disney Princes have to go through! I absolutely love the menacing vibe you get from “Vanessa’s” face in this image. Ladies hide your men!

#14 Thomas From Pocahontas

Lovely lovely Thomas, I always had a soft spot for him when I was younger. He constantly looked like he had accidentally walked onto the wrong ship, and had absolutely no idea what he was supposed to be doing (I feel you bro). Still, he was lovely and always willing to help out his teammates.

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
Doesn’t he look a little like a young, red-haired Leonardo DiCaprio here?? His sweet eyes have such a haunted look in them… this is probably the second after he “accidentally” shoots Kocoum in the forest. His intentions were good though! And I love his freckles.

#15 Hades From Hercules

Hades is hands down my favorite villain of all time. He’s just so SASSY, and shady, and an absolute monster… but boy does he make me laugh! Honestly… he’s probably the one villain I’ve never really pictured in a real-life scenario… and now I think I know why.

via: Jirka Vinse Jonatan Väätäinen
Can somebody say YIKES?? And I thought Cruella Ded Vil looked creepy af… this is just a whole other level. I have to admit though, the way Vinse has created his hair is fantastic. I definitely won’t be making any trips to the Underworld anytime soon, however.
#16 Queen Elsa From Frozen

Well we’ve already covered Anna, so it’s only fair that we take a look at Elsa too! The Queen with the uncontrollable ice powers, who rather than face up to her uniqueness, decided that the best way to deal with her emotions was to run off and isolate herself inside her very own ice palace… er, okay hun.

The recreated image of Elsa however, is absolutely flawless. I love her makeup and her absolute HAIR GOALS. Also, wouldn’t you just kill for that dress? Vinse has even made sure that she looks similar to her younger sister Anna, now that’s asrtistc dedication!
#17 Tiana From Princess And The Frog
loved the Princess and the frog. The minute Tiana said “wishin’ on stars won’t get you far, you’ve got to work hard”  I was like YESSSS GIRL, FINALLY! Also, she never chased a Prince, but still managed to bag herself one in the end. And I think we can all agree, it had absolutely the best soundtrack!
And what an incredible image to honor an incredible lady! I love how mischevious Tiana looks in real-life, and the cute little curl at the top of her forehead is a wonderful detail. No wonder Prince Naveen fell head over heels for this lady!
