We LOVE Disney and Pixar movies. There’s nothing better than curling up on the couch with your loved ones and singing along with your favourite Disney songs. But did you know that the movies you love so much are hiding tiny details that have huge meaning in the Disney Pixar universe? We’ve found 20 of these amazing details and put them right here in this list to add to your enjoyment of your favourite movies.
1. Mrs Potts and Chip appear in Tarzan
Everyone’s favourite tea set from Beauty and the Beast also make a cameo appearance in Tarzan, as Tarzan’s best friend Terk uses them as an impromptu drum set for a musical number. Fan theories say that Belle could actually be Jane’s ancestor and passed down this tea set through her family for generations.
2. The bootleg Disney movies sold on the streets of Zootopia are based on real Disney and Pixar movies.
As well as the ones in this picture, there’s also references to Big Hero 6 and Tangled.
3. Evil Sid from Toy Story makes a return in Toy Story 3.
Did you notice the garbage man in Toy Story 3? Well big Pixar fans have and they’ve noticed that he looks suspiciously like Sid from the first movie, he even wears the same t-shirt! Add in the fact that he ‘rescues’ toys from the garbage and attaches them to the front of his truck and you’ve got a very convincing argument that says it’s definitely Sid!
4. The peddler at the beginning of Aladdin was the genie all along.
This fact was supposed to be revealed at the end of the movie but didn’t make the final cut. Both characters are voiced by Robin Williams and are the only characters to only have four fingers on each hand.
5. The Pixar Luxo ball appears in Up!
Look closely at this little girl’s bedroom in Up and you’ll notice the famous Pixar Luxo ball over in the corner. This isn’t the first movie that the ball has made a cameo in though, it’s appeared in Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo too!
6. Aladdin isn’t just passing Jasmine an apple in this scene
At this point in the magic carpet ride, Jasmine and Aladdin are flying through ancient Greece, which makes this apple much more important than it seems. In ancient Greece, tossing someone an apple was a way of expressing your love for them, what a romantic!
7. The Canadian exchange rate in Toy Story 2 is brutal!
Come on Pixar, I know the exchange rate isn’t great but $50 for a book worth $4.95? Give our Canadian friends some credit!
8. Nani from Lilo and Stitch is a big fan of Mulan, just like we are!
Have you spotted Mulan in this shot? Yep, there she is in one of the posters on Nani’s wall! Mulan is one of our favourite princesses too, Nani!
9. Jessie’s reference to Abraham Lincoln’s mother is no coincidence!
This could have just been a throwaway exclamation, but that’s not Pixar’s style! This is actually a reference to Tom Hanks, who is directly related to Abraham Lincoln through Nancy Hanks, honest Abe’s mother. He’s a direct descendant of one of Nancy Hanks’ uncles which makes Tom Hanks and Abraham Lincoln practically cousins!
10. Mr Incredible is a comic book hero in Finding Nemo.
Take a look at the comic book this little boy is reading in the dentist’s waiting room, yep, that’s Mr. Incredible! Any chance we could get our hands on that comic book? It looks great!
