In the current political climate, it can feel like we’re at each other’s throat at all times. There has been a lot of dark energy swirling around in the last few years. That’s why it’s important that, whenever we see a heartwarming act of humanity, we should stop and cherish it. After all, those are the kind of things that make life worthwhile.
Here are some images from across the web that will make you feel glad to be part of this crazy world:
1. A bona fide hero
This is 15 year-old Anthony Borges. He used his body to hold a classroom door shut during the Florida shooting, thereby protecting 20 other students who were inside the room.
The gunman fired through the door, hiting Anthony 5 times. He is currently recovering in hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery.
2. Water on wheels
Every day this man drives for hours in drought to provide water for thirsty wild animals in his native Kenya. What would they do without him! God bless this man.
3. Help without borders
Pictured above is a fire crew in Southern Arizona. The reason they’re behind a wall? yep, you guessed it – that’s the Mexican border. When it comes to helping you fellow human beings in an emergency, borders have no meaning, and you’ll do whatever you can to help.
4. The kindness of a stranger
This is Brian, a retired pensioner from Dublin, Ireland. Every single night, he makes 50 curries for the homeless people living on the streets in his community. He pays for this out of his own pocket, despite not being a rich man. God bless you, Brian.
5. Let me give you a hand
This is a kindly old stranger helping a young man out with his tie during the morning commute. He could’ve been on the way to a job interview, we don’t know – either way, it’s a really touching picture.
6. He believed in him, he showed love back
This is really special from comedian John Johnson. It just goes to show how the words of a teacher can stay with a person well into adulthood. So if there are any teachers reading this, make sure you encourage your kids like this guy did! It clearly worked out well for both of them.
7. Centenary Stamps
Barbados is obviously a country that really respects its elder citizens. So much so that anyone who reaches the age of 100 gets their own postage stamp! It’s usually royalty or presidents that you see on stamps. This is a really nice gesture, and it would be great to see this in other countries across the world.
8. Father figures
A middle school started a ‘breakfast with dads’ programme, but many of the dads couldn’t make it, and sadly some of the kids didn’t have father figures in their lives. The school posted a request for volunteer fathers, and 600 men from different backgrounds showed up.
9. Her father lives on
This is incredibly powerful story. This young bride’s father passed away before she got married. Her father was on the organ donor list, and his heart ended up being used in a transplant. The man walking her down the aisle in the picture above is the man who received her father’s heart. Incredible.
10. Work is garbage
Just some refuse workers taking a break from their hard day… on a swing set! It looks like they’re getting pretty competitive about how high they can swing…
11. The best news imaginable
This girl, who was in care, just received the news that her adoption went through, and she is about to have the new parents that she wanted. This honestly brought tears to my eyes!
12. Don’t do it
This man was attempting to commit suicide, and a whole bunch of officers and regular citizens are in the process of talking him down. There is so much raw humanity in this image. I really hope this guy makes a full recovery.
13. Hang in there, buddy
That’s not his pet – this guy at the coffee shop is looking up animal rescue services for the injured sparrow that he just found. What a kind soul!
14. Righting those wrongs
This note speaks for itself. I am always amazed that human beings have such capacity to turn their lives around and get out of dark places. This kinda reminds me of the TV show ‘My Name Is Earl’.
15. Give it away now
This guy works as a janitor at his local high school, and is a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. When they came to town, ticket prices were incredibly high, and he couldn’t afford to go, so the students pooled their money and bought him a pair of tickets. Look how happy he is!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this gallery. It just goes to show that there is still an incredible amount of love in the world.
