We’ve come a long way in our understanding of same-sex relationships over the last few decades. There was a time when gay men were seen as some ind of scourge, and there was great moral panic over issues like gay marriage.
However, most people now recognize that most gay men just want the same thing as straight guys – love and companionship.
Meet Robin, 18, and Julien, 19 – a super-cute young same-sex couple created by an artist called Wonsun Jin, who comes from Australia.
This adorable young couple are purely fictional, but that doesn’t stop them being any less cute.
The two main characters have different personalities that complement each other. Robin is more of a stay-at-home type of guy who loves pizza, video games and TV, while Julien is an outgoing, spontaneous man with love for sports. Together, these boys create a super-cute story of love and companionship.
Here are a bunch of comics featuring your new favorite couple. If you enjoy the work, you can support Wonsun on his Patreon page.
1. Mom, please stop being so supportive
This one made me laugh hard. It’s great that parents are generally more supportive of their gay kids these days, but that doesn’t stop them from being hugely embarrassing! I mean, after all, they’re parents – it’s their job.
2. Saving him from a rainy day
Maybe it’s the height difference that leads to Julien being so protective of his boyfriend. Whatever the reason, it’s extremely cute. I love this drawing style! Wonsun is clearly very talented.
2. Sleeping beauty, a modern fairytale
Apparently, Julien’s love for Robin is so strong that he’s willing to put up with the inevitable morning breath that your partner has at 6AM. Rather him than me! Breath issues aside, this is one of my favorites for sure.
3. I can’t stay mad at you
It’s perfectly normal for couples to have a big argument every once in a while, and this applies no matter what your sexual orientation is. If you spend that much time with someone, you’re bound to bump heads eventually, no matter how close you are. However, if the love is strong enough, the two of you will always make up in the end. This is clearly the case with Julien and Robin.
4. Avert your eyes
Yes, mom, of course you’re disgusted. You’re totally not gawping at the pictures of Julien, right? I think you just made this awkward.
5. Taking jealousy a little too far
As I mentioned before, Julien is extremely protective of Robin. However, there is such a thing as too protective. Look at the poor pup’ face!
6. The embarrassment contest
I love it when couples do this – that thing where you compete to see who can embarrass the other the most. Although, I doubt Robin is ever going to win this battle. Julien simply doesn’t care who knows how much he loves his “little custard pudding”.
7. Your chariot awaits
In the early stages of a relationship, Julien is pulling out all the stops to wow his new love interest. Although this kind of glitz and glamour inevitably can’t last for ever, it is eventually replaced by something much more powerful – true love and togetherness. This is as true with same-sex couples as with heterosexual ones.
8. Bad to the bone
Robin is clearly having a tough time coping with his boyfriend’s new look. I’m sure he’s going to enjoy it for a while to come! Once he successfully manages to keep himself from fainting, that is…
9. The best feeling there is
This is so cute, but I can’t help thinking that Julien and Robin are definitely in the early stages of their relationship here. After 10 years, it’d probably be more like “You are cold! Go away and let me sleep!” Or maybe that’s just me with my hubby Walt…
10. There’s no jacket like boyfriend jacket
The heterosexual guys out there will have noticed that their girlfriends like to steal their clothes very often. They don’t just do this to be annoying – it’s because they love you and they find it comforting! The same applies for homosexual couples like Julien and Robin. I love their facial expressions in the last panel.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these cartoons as much as I did. Which was your favorite? Let us know in the comments section!
