Kindness: the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
The most beautiful things in life come from when we are kind to one another. But sometimes, we confuse kindness with being nice, when the two are actually very different.
Kindness is about being generous and considerate about the people around you. It’s about going out of your way to help another for no particular reason other than because the Lord wishes us to. The Lord has shown us how to be benevolent and now it is our mission to do so.
Sometimes this means, as believers, we need a little push and some motivation to go the extra mile and as we all know, we can always look to the bible in times of need.
Today I want to spread that love with these gorgeous verses from the bible about being kind. I hope this inspires you today.
1. Ephesians 4:31-32.
“All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Ephesians shows us here that to let go of anger and hatred, means you can truly hold the spirit within you and become a truly kind and giving person.
2. 2 Samuel 9:7
““Don’t be afraid!” David said. “I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king’s table!””
3. Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Galatians shows us that our Father possesses all these things, and so should we.
4. Colossians 3:12
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience”
5. Matthew 5:40-42
“And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.”
Remember that we are to be kind to not just our friends and family, but to our enemies too. Loving our enemies sets Christians apart from the ways of the world.
6. Luke 6:35
“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.”
7. Deuteronomy 15:8
“But you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.”
Take kindness the extra mile, and remember it is different to just being nice.
8. 2 Corinthians 9:7
“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
9. Ruth 3:10
““The LORD bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier:You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor.”
Ruth tells us that your acts of kindness will not go unnoticed and are cherished. The Lord blesses you.
10. Titus 3:4-6
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
We need to be the ones that push kindness into the world so that others will follow. So just remember ‘one kind word can change someone’s entire day’.
